What is Permaculture?

Permaculture is a sustainable design system that provides for human needs while having positive effects on the surrounding environment.

It is based on the ethics of earth care, people care and fair share, and provides practical solutions to the global crises we are currently facing.

Permaculture is for EVERYONE, regardless of their education, background, or previous experience.

Permaculture is NOT just about trees, or just about gardening! You don't need loads of land to practice it and it's a design method that can be applied to all social systems.

Miracles DO happen

Jeroen was up in the forest cutting goat food last week when a white van drew up asking for me. Unbelievably, they had 21 telephone posts with them and proceeded to erect them all the way along the track. On Friday afternoon another white van appeared and attached our brand new land line telephone.

You can’t see me I know, but I’m doing a rather happy dance as I write this. We paid for this line in August 2008 and were close to giving up on ever seeing it. That’s thirty one months of frustration at the hands of Portugal’s most useless organisation, PT. They’ve claimed to have no knowledge of me, cut me off, lied to me, made me send them the same documents over and over, broken promises ….

Needless to say, they’re refusing to attach us to the net. But we’re determined. Watch this space!

In the meantime, you’ll find our new landline number on the Get in Touch page if you need it.

Woohoo at last! Fab news! And you never know, in three years time you might have the internet there too 😉

2 years?! They probably think a telephone line is a piece of string with yoghurt pots. Think happy thoughts!

Don’t even go there with the internet thing! You’d think that as PT have now given us a phone line they’d be able to connect it to the net but apparently it’s not that simple. Poor Jeroen has spent hours on the phone to them. They say no problem then ask for our phone number and suddenly the line goes dead. I’m beginning to suspect there is a big red flashing cross on their screen every time my name comes up …
