What is Permaculture? Permaculture is a sustainable design system that provides for human needs while having positive effects on the surrounding environment.
It is based on the ethics of earth care, people care and fair share, and provides practical solutions to the global crises we are currently facing.
Permaculture is for EVERYONE, regardless of their education, background, or previous experience.
Permaculture is NOT just about trees, or just about gardening! You don't need loads of land to practice it and it's a design method that can be applied to all social systems.

After some rain, it’s a fabulous time of year to be a goat. The hills are totally yellow with broom (Cytisus scoparius) and carqueja (Baccharis trimera).
This is Lambert Geeny, our new ram and future patriarch of what we’re hoping will become our new sheep empire.
About two minutes after I took this photo Lambert chased Mr Goat all around the field. Mr Goat is now sulking in his shed, nursing his ego. Lambert is stalking the fence […]
For several years now we’ve been planting cacti along the border of our land, between our camping spaces and our neighbour’s land in the forest. Mature cacti can slow the spread of a fire, so a useful plant to have on the edges of our land. This year I’ve also harvested the cactus […]
With our summer course season rapidly approaching I was reminded that I hadn’t shared the marvelous photos which Nuno took for us during one of last year’s Permaculture Design Courses. Here are a selection of his photos of the event.
Please join us for a Permaculture Design Course this year. Bookings are now open, […]
Andrea has recently returned from this course, working with Looby Macnamara, Chris Evans and Tomas Remiarz to learn more about the tools & techniques for teaching and facilitating permaculture learning. Fabulous to work with a group of such superbly passionate permaculture people, she’s come home full of ideas and raring to go!
We’re hosting […]
We are now inviting applications from those who would like to make a commitment to join us for summer 2017 in one of three dedicated roles. In return for your commitment you will have the opportunity to take part in one of our scheduled Permaculture Design Courses at a significantly reduced cost […]
I’m very excited to announce this year’s Permaculture Design Course schedule. As in previous years, all our PDCs will be accredited by the UK Permaculture Association and taught in English (although our teachers do speak Portuguese too and can help with translating new words / concepts).
* 10 day PDC – Friday 9th June […]
I wrote this back in 2014. Spending some time away from home reliant on supermarket veggies brought it to mind again.
If you’ve gone to all the time and trouble to grow something delicious and nutritious, you’ll want to make the most of it. Well, that’s the way we look at it anyway! We […]
Warmer weather means we’ve been able to do the first hive inspections of the new year. Sadly one colony hasn’t survived the winter, but the other is looking healthy.
